What inspires your work?
Usually I begin with a sketch or some form of idea. But what inspires me is what I’m feeling at the moment. I try to be as true to myself and translate those feelings on to my wood panel. There are other elements that inspire me as well like rusty surfaces, graffiti and typography and now with the white series cityscapes too.
Where are you originally from?
I am originally from LA but I left everything behind to pursue my dream as an artist.
When you aren't creating art, what do you spend your time doing?
When I’m not painting I’m out Dancing Salsa (TIMBA). Salsa has become a big part of my life. This only happens once a month but I also enjoy the Alameda Flea market looking for vintage cameras.
How did you come up with the process for your work?
For the White Series I was experimenting going back and forward with black and white. If you look closer at some of the pieces I also use pencils for organic shapes. I remember I told myself this is either going to work or not but I went with my gut and it worked out.
